There was a time when arranging holiday money was a nightmare, how much cash should you take? How do you keep it safe? What about travellers cheques?

Thankfully technology has come to the rescue of the wary traveller. We recommend that our customers use the Travellers Cheque card from American Express, it offers all the assurance and safety of traditional travellers cheques, but with the convenience of a card.

The card is pre-paid and so is not linked to your bank or credit card accounts, it can be topped-up when needed and the funds on the card never expire, which is ideal for frequent travellers.

As with traditional travellers cheques, if the card is lost or stolen you have the full back-up of American Express and your remaining balance will be refunded to you within 24 hours. You even get the security of coverage for your passports and credit cards if they are stolen during your trip.

Recently VISA have also started offering a pre-paid travel card, which is accepted anywhere you see the VISA logo. As with American Express, you will have the advantage of a world-wide organisation behind you in the event that the card is lost or stolen.
